AutoCAD 2017 lost command dialogue box input

Recently had to ctrl-alt-del end autocad after becoming unresponsive, since then for a number of commands I don't have the option of the usual window box prompts just dynamic entry which is impossible to continue with: see below for layer manager - is this a variable to be turned on/off?

Some commands work normal bringing up a window prompt others dynamic

Hi @JWPepper

Try setting CMDDIA=1 to see if that brings them back.

Hi,

I suggest to check FILEDIA system variable to be 1.

Command: FILEDIA
Enter new value for FILEDIA <1>:

Hi all.

Had 2000 release since inception. Wonderful results ever since till now.

My command window ( command line? ) has disappeared. If I try the text window it floats and if I drag the text window by the title bar to the status bar as suggested by Autodesk, all I can see is the title bar. The remainder of the window is hidden. The text window can only be moved by the title bar.

Any help is appreciated but please be aware I am self taught and the manual has no reference for this situation.

Thanks for anything. Getting desperate.

Hi,

Can you please show a screenshot about what you see on your screen when you have started AutoCAD with a new drawing? I'm not sure what you really see now and what not.
