AutoCAD 2017 crashes randomly while in use.

Hello,

I recently downloaded the Student version of AutoCAD 2017 for Win. 7 64-bit so I can do some of my engineering work while in my free time. However the program crashes randomly while I'm in the program and drawing things out. It will FREEZE UP, THE SCREEN WILL GO BLACK FOR TWO SECONDS, THEN POP BACK UP FROZEN WITH AN ERROR MESSAGE OF A DRIVER CRASH. I'm running on dual 280Xs with an Intel-i7 4790K, and I have never had real problems with this computer. I know that there were AMD issues with the 2016 version, and I tried downloading new driver stuff from AMD and switching to Windows Basic, but to no avail.

So any ideas? I'll do what it takes to fix it, even if it means a clean install or something similar

Thanks!

Also here is a picture of what's happening if that helps.

Ok well now it's showing as an Unhandled Access Violation

@Anonymous hello, try to updates your graphics card driver to the latest or try to switch off your hardware acceleration and see if this helps. thanks

and also try to install latest updates and service packs from autodesk.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

This sounds like a graphics card driver problem. i suggest that you check to see if you have the most current.  In addition you can test this by running the /nohardware switch when launching AutoCAD. This will disable hardware acceleration at startup.
