AutoCAD 2016 will not open when .dwg file is double-clicked

I am using Windows 7 professional.  I removed all my previous versions of Autocad using the windows add/remove program . I then downloaded and installed Autocad 2016. I can open drawings from within autocad or by dragging the file to the Autocad shortcut on the desktop. If I try to open a drawing by double clicking or a right click and select open like I could in previous versions, I get an error message that it cannot find the autocad 2015 exe. Dwd Launcher is set as the default to open the program. I tried a repair and a reinstall.  When I go into the registry, I see autocad 2015 not 2016. I suspect that this is the problem but I am not knowledgeable enough to try and edit the registry. I am attaching images of the error., the default program and the registry. Allan Daschuk

Thanks Edwin

The file worked!

I was moving from Civil3d2014 to Civil3d2016.  It kept opening up 2014 verison and as soon as i dbl clicked the reg key and clicked yes I then opened a dwg file and it worked with the 2016 version.

weird, dunno.

Sounds like a different problem all together.

You might want to consider searching for something similar or start your own thread.

Try to open all your AutoCAD related applications.  AutoCAD and DWGtrueview and AutoCAD Mechanical is you have this too.  I found that if you have the DWGtrueview viewer application you must open it as well so it registers properly.  This have fixed the issue for my AutoCAD users.  Occasionally I had to run the AutoCAD register file attached to this thread.
