AutoCAD 2015 plot layout problem with AC 2011 file

This may be a fairly simple fix, but I'm stumped at the moment. I have a drawing from a class I took in 2011 and want to add a portion of it to my portfolio, but when I open it in AutoCAD 2015, zoom to the area I want to use and create a new layout in paper space, the viewport automaticallyzooms way in and I can't get it to zoom out. Also tried zoom extants before switching to paper space with the same result, so I can't even get a layout of the whole drawing.

Attached is a screen cap to show what I mean (Look closely and you can see segments of a line and an arc). I also have AutoCAD 2014 for Mac and the same problem occurs there. It's the first time I have tried to open an older (relatively) file in either version, so does anyone have some idea what I'm missing? Thanks.

UCSFOLLOW variable needs to be turned off in your model space and inside each existing viewport:
