AutoCAD 2015 keeps changing to paper space

I recently upgraded from 2012 to 2015. For some reason, my cad automatically switches from working in the model space to the paper space even when I am using a command. Is anyone able to help with this or could there be some sort of bug on the server?

Thanks

Are you doing a lot of panning and zooming in a locked viewport?  If you do this for an extended time, the autosave often will throw you back into paper.  Not exactly sure why it does this, but it's usually what happens to me.  Very irritating, but I'm sure there's a reason.

Yeah I am doing a lot panning and zooming. Only had 2015 for a month or so. Tempted to go back to 2012. I've turned auto save off for the time to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Hope you don't crash 😉  I would get into the habit of qsaving if you plan on doing that.

This happens to me a lot. I create a new drawing, copy and paste everything into it, then save that over the buggy one. This seems to fix it. Good luck!

Found a better fix for this-

Mouse over the tab of the drawing you're having trouble with, a menu should appear with several layouts, click the model space. This fixes the problem for me every time.

I hope this works for you!

How does clicking model tab fix it? It doesn't.  I draw in model space, but when I dimension I use viewports in paper space because I use anotation scales.  That's the mot effeciant way to draw, I am not using release 12 where I dimension in model space.

To everyone else I found not a fix but something to lesson the annoyance.  I am on windows 10, it seems its something to do with that, I was on 7, because it does it with AutoCAD 14 and 15 too even though I didn't have an issue before

By chaninging the compatability mode on acad.exe to windows 7 the problem happens less often but it does till happen

Locate acad.exe.  Right Click, go to properties, in properties go to compatibility tab.  Check the Box "Run in compatibility mode" Select Windows 7 and click ok or apply.
