AutoCAD 2014 unreferenced XREF files

Hello All,

I'm running AutoCAD 2014.

I was given some drawings from another party; I need to add furniture to them and send back.

The only thing showing up in both model and viewports of layout are xref lines of what the Saved Path is (shown in attached screenshot).

 - no actual images/symbols

When looking at the references in the File References dialog box, the Status of the referenced images is ! Unreferenced - and then quite a few ! Not Found.

Am I able to recover whatever images I may have or is it all lost?

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

It could be the file somehow got corrupted. 

Is the host drawing in the same folder as the xrefs? 

How many user's are working on the same project? Could it be that someone mishandled the files?

What versions of AutoCAD are they using? 

In what format did they send you the files? 

Would you be able to share the files? If not on a public space I can send you a BOX invite to share the file with me.

Its likely they did not send you all the files you need. If they didnt send everything ask them to resend using ETRANSMIT.

"Unreferenced" is different than "not found"

Unreferenced means that the xref is attached but not inserted into the parent drawing. i.e. someone erased it instead of detach.

Not found means there is an instance of the xref in the parent drawing, but the reference cannot be located.

I've gotten them to send me the base plan of the existing files needed (hence, I finally got a real plan to look at - so I'm good)

Back to the initial problem - there were no other folders/files existing but the one shared above. This is why I was so confused because I had absolutely nothing to go off of, and quite frankly, I'm not a computer guru - so when the image isn't there, I've no idea where it "could be."

The one who sent me the initial file had no idea it was xrefed until I told her this was all I was seeing.

The file came from 2013 version and I work in 2014. The file was sent in a typical .dwg.

Because I have recieved what I need, I no longer need further assistance with this problem. I REALLY appreciate it though! (Until next time!)
