AutoCAD 2012 no longer has a valid serial number

One of our AutoCAD 2012 installations threw a license error yesterday. It apparently stemmed from an invalid serial number, even though it is the same number on the case it came in. We did not upgrade it, install it elsewhere or any other thing I can think of that would invalidate it. My understanding is that we should be able to use AutoCAD 2012 standalone until 2021, according to info I found on this site. Is it possible to correct this situation?

Thanks in advance.

You might want to check in the licensing forum.

If by some odd chance my nattering was useful -- that's great, glad to help. But if it actually solved your issue, then please mark my solution as accepted 🙂

Is this by chance on WIndows10 and after the recent update? AutoCAD2012 is not supported in Win10, which means Autodesk is not interested ever in helping http://autode.sk/1IY4C2X

Can you post a screenshot of the actual error message? Mask any serial number shown of course.

I was able to get through to Autodesk support. I was informed that the serial number in question was being used at "several" companies. It must have been purchased from an unscrupulous and unauthorized vendor (before my time). The number is done. Thanks for the help though.
