Autcad files hosted on our Azure Server

Has anyone successfully deployed the above solution?  We decided to move all of our cad files to Azure File server and users have started complaining of slow speeds opening and saving drawings.  We are on a 200mb fiber connection to our azure server.  For example, a user can open a cad drawing on our lan in 40 seconds, but the same file takes 3 minutes from azure.  Keep in mind that the same user was on 100mb on our lan.  I do understand that latency, etc can cause some issues, however, that's almost 8 times as slow.  Are there any suggestions/settings we can do in cad?  We are all on 2016.

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

I haven't seen any customers doing this. There isn't anything you can do in Autocad to improve network latency. How long does it take to grab that file and move it local? Perhaps you should consider an even faster pipe to accommodate the number of hops or perhaps a network accelerator device.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Thanks for the quick response.  Our pipe is pretty fast at 200mb fiber.  Copying files down is fast.  Since our cad files xref a lot of other files, its hard to determine which file is causing the issue.  I've watched our firewall bandwidth when the user opens the file and it goes up and down, peaking at around 140mb of the pipe and drops as low as 20mb.  I'm considering doing branch cache and have it sync back to azure instead.  Every other app works great, its just CAD.  Any suggestions you may have?

Not sure how network accelerators work back to azure, I may call MS and see.

Hi @Anonymous,

I found this link regarding Azure. Perhaps it will help you.

I know a few years back that network acceleration was being pushed in the tech world but I haven't personally tried it for AutoCAD and would hesistate a little in deploying until you ran some serious tests.
