Attribute block error

Hi everyone,

Has anyone else had an issue where by turning off certain layers in a drawing it also turns off the text inside the drawing frame (attribute block)? I have changed the drawing frame to another layer but still when I turn off other layers it turns this of off too?

please let me know if you have a fix for this?

Hi,

if the attribute (or text) inside your block is set to a layer you are freezing, then yes, it will be invisible.

you misread that completely clearly, even tho the attribute block isnt in a frozen layer its being frozen off when I'm turning off layers that have nothing to do with it. Seems like a set up a new frame issue which wont be to bad anyway.

That just means your text is on a layer you obviously don't wish them to be on: so BEDIT that titleblock and change them to layers you want to be on all the time.

You do know that every item in a block can be on as many layers as you have in the file, and the layer the block is actually on simply means nothing at all: right? If you wish to avoid that rookie mistake, ensure all the content of your blocks are on layer 0 (which you never use for anything else or freeze or turn off).

Please upload the drawing and let us know which layer you are freezing and expecting the block-reference not to be frozen.

Also check and see if you inserted your Attribute Block onto one of the layers you are freezing / turning off.

Go into your Title block and click onto the Attribute Block and see what layer it is inserted on.

If your made a layer for the Attribute Block, place that block onto that said layer.  Close and save your Title block and test by freezing / turning off the layer you don't want to see.

Hope this helps.

JRR.

tried bedit and changed all the text layers to appropriate ones but when I start turning off things in the model space that's when it does it if I'm turning off layers through viewport it works fine. This the first time this has ever happened to me so its a bit of an anomaly, so just gonna go how it is for now as it works then if it happens in the future again ill let you know

After editing the block try using the ATTSYNC command and select the block

You can VP Freeze the object layer in a viewport so it doesn't affect the drawing frame object layer display in Paper Space.
