Arrays modifications doesn't show in the screen.

Good morning All,

I hope someone could help me with the following:

I have one file which since today where i want to change the number of columns in an dynamic array. The darkblue arrow's are shown on the right position, only the grahpical appearance stays as they where.

Than i tried the following steps already:

- checked if all layers where on, thawed, and unlocked.

- did do multiple audit and recoverys.

- did try same changes using AutoCAD 2015 instead of 2016.

noting of the above did work out.

Than i did try to make an new array but in this drawing no items are shown in the screen.

then i tried to use the edit source command, but after closing the array this item did disappear from the screen.

To check if this was applicable for the application or drawing, i did created a new file and did do array, and there it works fine. Also other another file of same project where i work on did work fine. So my conclusion is: there is something inside the drawing file which makes using array not showing but the existing stay's as they are.

Does anyone has seen this issue before? Is there an sollution othere than redraw the drawing?

Thanks in advance, Albert.

Hi,

you might try to use command _AUDIT or command _RECOVER to verify the internal database, if there are errors found, let repair them.
If that does not help, can you upload the drawing so we can look into it (you can erase all the other objects in a copy of your file to upload only the critical elements).

Hoi Alfred,

Thanks for your reply.

I did do the Audit and Recovery multiple times before i wrote the post. and the copy paste geometry in a new file should not be necessary in my opinion. I did this to try if the array's start to appear in the meant way. And this works out.

But still i would like to know what is there in the file which creates this unwanted behaviour. What happens with the files over the weekend? I don't like this kind of suprises when you open the next time a file and it apears that things are missing, and not working anymore.

Regards, Albert.

Hi,

>> But still i would like to know what is there in the file

As it is file specific I would like to look into it. Otherwise it's hard to say what's in your file without seeing/opening the file and look to the objects.

If no one else had opened them with AutoCAD (or any other DWG-edit-software) I would say it's unusual that backup-software or antivirus-software (which are working on demand, without manual touch) modify your files (not believing in gremlins 😉 ).

Agreed, I can understand that, and there are some threads here which handles cases like "saved it, closed it and when opening this file next day seems to have not saved all changes", but (for me) there is no global rule when this happens.

What you can do is to verify you have installed the latest AutoCAD service pack, your network traffic is working well (if stored in network), your server does not have a antivirus software that blocks DWG-files (I would disable av-scanning of DWG file at all). Also a point to mention: saving on NAS drives something makes troubles.

Thanks Alfred,

Yes i understand you can't say anything usefull without seeing the file. I made a cleaned one with only a few objects of the original, whith some of the arrays.

I didn't believe in gremlins either, but over recent times where more and more misterious unlogical things are happening with the computer systems i am going to believe in them 😉

I am not very into how the network is maintained, highly specialized topic i would say. But what i know, is that we have an external data center as our network storrage, here we store all the data of the office. that means constant connection with this external data center. and i can imagine a lot of different things happening with the drawing data between my work station and the data storage, and also when it is there over time. I will have a talk with the ict here in the office.

Hi,

first info: even if I don't know currently what's going on with your drawing internally I have found a way for you to be able to continue to work:

You can start command _WBLOCK with the option "entire drawing", this creates a new drawing (purged) with the same content and within this new drawing the array objects functionality is back working (tried now with 2016).
