I wanna understand the meaning of base point when im using -ARRAY command.

-ARRAY with options polar, i can choose base point. But i don't know how it effect the drawing. Obviously it drawing different when i just choose center point for polar. I don't understand how it work, why it create array different.

In ARRAY command i clearly understand the point of using Base Point when creating array, but in -ARRAY i don't know how it effect the array exactly.

Hi,

Good question...

The BASE option in the polar array command allows you to specify a point on the original object that will serve as the base point for the arrayed copies. This is useful for controlling the positioning of the arrayed items relative to the center of rotation.

  • Default Behavior (Without BASE): By default, AutoCAD uses the geometric center or insertion point of the object being arrayed as the reference point.
  • With BASE Specified: When you use the BASE option, you can choose a specific point on the object as the reference point for the array. This ensures that the arrayed objects are positioned in the desired orientation around the center point.

Suppose you are creating a polar array of a rectangular object around a circular area. By default, AutoCAD may align the rectangle's center to the array's center point. However, if you want one corner of the rectangle to align with the circle's edge, you can use the BASE option to set that corner as the base point before creating the array.

i took i understand but i still don't 😂

But let explain me more, like this case of -ARRAY command i choose base point at : 0,0 and center point at 10,0,  angle to fill: 360 and rotate is : No

It create the array like this: -array_ask1.png
