AREA command issues: Osnap sensitivity and Autosave

I'm using AutoCad LT for Mac, and I am having trouble with OSNAP sensitivity while using the AREA command.

I have adjusted the sensitivity in preferences; my osnap aperture is set to 40.  And it generally works just fine.

But when I use the AREA command, I have trouble selecting my osnap points.  It acts like the aperature is almost zero.  I have to zoom in pretty close, and even then it is still difficult to grab an end point/ intersection.  So I'm zooming in to select a point, zooming out, panning over, zooming back in.  It's a pain.

It is only the AREA command as far as I can tell.  With the same view, Osnap works perfectly with every other command, but as soon as I type in area, without zooming in, I suddenly can't select points!

Bonus question:  Why is the AREA command constantly interrupted by autosaving?  A high percentage of the time, when I hit enter after making my selection, I see an autosave dialogue instead of the area calculation.

I know I can expand the command line and view the area calculation, but this seems to happen a lot.  Like 50% of the time!  My autosave is set to 15 min...

Hi,

Change the setting of the system variable <APERTURE>  This setting controls how close (in pixels) to the object you need to get before the object snap grips appear.  The minimum value is 1 (way too low) the maximum value is 50

APERTURE controls the object snap target box, not the pickbox displayed at the Select Objects prompt. The object selection pickbox is controlled by the PICKBOX system variable.

Thanks, but I already set aperature to 40.  I think I mentioned that in
my post.

As I described, there seems to be a separate aperture value being used
for the AREA command only.

The problem is specific to AREA.  When running AREA, the aperture size
changes while I am selecting points under the area command.

With everything being the same, I can draw lines around the area I want
to measure, and osnap works perfectly.  I switch to AREA, try to select
the same points in the same sequence, zoomed out exactly the same....but
I can't.  It simply won't grab any points!  I have to zoom in pretty
close before it will grab any points.

End command, and everything goes back to normal.
