architxt font replaced by simplex.shx

YES, the proper .shx is in my font folder.

I've Googled this and no answer has helped me. I believe I have a unique situation so I am here. I am running AutoCad 2017 on two computers with two different programs. One has Fabrication CADmep and one has Trimble PipeDesigner. To make a long story short, we were going to switch from Trimble to Fabrication CADmep.

Both are setup remotely and both have the needed font styles in their respective folder. When I open the current file I am working on in CADmep, the font loads up fine. When I open it up on my Pipedesigner, the font is simplex. I can't figure out why it is doing so. When I open the file, it makes all opened files convert their textstyle to simplex.

When I close Autocad and reopen it, it paths back correctly to the proper textstyle, architxt, until I open the file that is causing it. I have tried recover and audit and nothing comes up. I tried to copy&paste into a new drawing, but as soon as I open the file, it changes the text on all open drawings to simplex. This ONLY happens to architxt it appears.

Any help is appreciated

John,

As this font (architxt.shx) is not a default AutoCAD font, we have added it (and many others) to a local C:\User\... path that contains all the custom fonts we use company wide.  They are populated to each machine via script from a secure network location each time a user logs in.  The support path to this "custom fonts" location is placed ABOVE the default AutoCAD support path for fonts (those have been left intact...albeit further down the list.)

As a follow up, I'm convinced it has nothing to do with paths, but corruption/errors in individual files.  As a Publish proceeds down the list it encounters one of these errors it propagates to everything from that point on.  Some of my users audit and purge their files regularly so it usually isn't a problem.  Sadly not all have good habits.

A thought on this issue.

I have had issues where custom SHX fonts are not loaded if the path is too far down on the support files search path list.

This has happened to a few users with a lot of plugins.

This may not be the issue, but I would certainly try moving the font path higher on the list or relocating the font to a folder that is higher.

And then of course, restart AutoCAD

There is definitely a limit to the length of the ACAD path string, (getenv "ACAD") when it comes to fonts.

That is my experience, anyway.
