ArcGIS for AutoCAD

Hi all, I am fairly new to AutoCAD, and I am trying to load an application downloaded from ESRI (https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcgis-for-autocad). This download gives me a .exe that when run, gives me an error that says

I click ok and it says

However I have AutoCAD 2022 installed and it is closed at the time that I am trying to run the installation. I've seen online that people have used the command _netload to point to a .dll file. I don't see a .dll file in the folder so I am not sure where they get this from.

Ultimately I'd like to figure out how I can get the ArcGIS ribbon tab in AutoCAD that I have seen online. Any help is appreciated!

Hi,

>> However I have AutoCAD 2022 installed

Can you please start your AutoCAD, inside AutoCAD command _ABOUT and show us a screenshot?

On my side I'm currently looking for which AutoCAD versions are really supported.

Hi,

thank you for your screenshot, you are missing an update, but it should be OK.

As the ESRI installer sends the message, that AutoCAD is not installed I guess ...

your AutoCAD is not installed at the default location

  • they don't find 2022 (and only could installed on my system as I have older releases installed to)
  • you are running AutoCAD on a remote server but try to install the ESRI app locally
  • some blocker (antivirus, ....) or missing permissions with your user account

Please let me know the findings about the above 3 guesses

Thank you Alfred. I believe AutoCAD is saved in C-> Program Files -> Autodesk. I am logging in to my work computer remotely but it is downloaded locally on the work computer. I don't think an antivirus is running on this computer.

Here is my type of license (student):

OK, is AutoCAD installed on the remote computer? If so did you start the installer on your remote computer?

Having AutoCAD installed in the remote computer, but installing the plugin on your local computer won't work.

BTW: it is not a typical situation to have student licenses when working in a remote environment ...

Yes, the installer is run from the remote computer. I don't believe that is the issue.

I agree that it is unusual to use the student license, it is on my to-do list to sign in to the work account. I signed into the wrong one and haven't gotten around to switching it.
