Annotative MText challenges

Annotative MText challenges

Hi All -

I've been using ACAD since R11 and have never made the leap to using anntotative text, dims, mleaders until now. And of course now, in the middle of an job, annotative txt, dims, etc. is exactly the correct tool called for what I am doing. However, I'm struggling with it.

I understand the basic concept and have set up several annotative text styles, dim styles, and have actually become fairly proficient with the annotative MLeader styles and usage. But Annotative Text and scaling is giving me a real headache.

I am working on a remodel of a local hotel. The primary floor plan will be scaled at 3/32" as that is what best fits the plotted page. I am labelling rooms, doors, notes, etc. In Model Space, I have the scale set to 3/32". I've created an annotative textstyle (Arial 3_32) with the paper text height set to 3/32". In both model space and in paper space and when plotted,  the text on the plotted page is proportionately close to what I want.

The "problem" is when I want to show a portion of the floor plan in 1/4" scale in a different viewport. In my opinion, the text becomes way too small. In model space, I have selected all of the various text objects that I want to view in paper space at 1/4" and have gone into Properties and added 1/4" scale to those objects. They are viewable in the viewport in paper space. They are just really small.

I've attached the drawing I'm working on. Specifically, one might compare A3.0 with A3.2 or A3.3 with A3.4 to see what I am concerned with.

Basically, in a perfect world, I would love to have my 3/32" scale text a smidge smaller and my 1/4" scale text a smidge bigger when plotted.

Any and all thoughts or direction are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Tim

Big picture basics:
- Set your primary STYLE as Annotative, and set the text "paper" size at 3/32"
- Set your primary DIMSTYLE as Annotative, and set it to use the STYLE above. Repeat for your MLEADERSTYLE.
- In Modelspace, set CANNOSCALE to the "printed' scale you want, like 1/4". Create text and notes. Change it to 1/16" then 3/32", watch the text resize correctly.
- In Paperspace, create a viewport and set the scale of the viewport to 1/4". Create another viewport looking at the same area in modelspace, but set the scale of this viewport to 1/16". And another set to 3/32". Same drawing, three different scales, text/dims will correctly print from paperspace sized at 3/32".

Oh, Set CELTSCALE, MSLTSCALE and PSLTSCALE to 1, LTSCALE matching your CANNOSCALE seems to work well for me.

quick question:

does the annotative features also scale the dim line spacing?
