ANNOTATIVE DIMENSIONS IN METRIC TEMPLATE NOT SIZING PROPERLY

I am not sure what is happening here, but I can't seem to get my annotative dimensions in AutoCAD 2021 or 2022 to show up correctly. I have two annotative scales on the dimensions shown (3:1 & 1/8) but the 1/8 is not sizing the dims down when I scale it in the viewport. Please help!

In the past I had no issues just dimensioning metric drawings right out of the box, so I know there must be a setting off or something since I started using these two versions. I created the annotative dimensions so perhaps there is a setting in the styles somewhere that I a missing.

Do you mean 1:8?

If you are drawing small items that are 1.3mm or 3.4mm of even 12mm in size, having annotative dimension text set at 2.5mm is going to give you the results you see when you opt to anything beyond 1:1 scale.

Remember, your text is always set to print at your chosen height (2.5mm in your file), but your content that is drawn at 1:1 scale is never going to resize. So the smaller the objects are, the larger and out of scale the text will always appear.

So... are you really wanting to create a print of your 19mm wide object at a 1:8 scale? Think about it, print it to paper and see for yourself.

After some work on this issue I realized my mechanical template (acad.dwt) has what I need to dimension in the metric drawings so I am using the dim and leader styles I made using that template and am able to have them scale to 1/8" text height or whatever. Thank you for your help!

Accepted solution

To correct this problem, I open two drawings, one based on the acad.dwt template and one based on the acadiso.dwt template. I typed "ADC" (AutoCAD design center) and then dragged and dropped the styles I wanted from one drawing to the other.

I dragged in the "MECH ANNO" dimension style I pr3eviously created that shows the dimensions .125" in height from a mechanical drawing I had open using the template based on the ANSI template (acad.dwt). I also dragged and dropped my MECH ANNO text style, my MECH ANNO leader style, and my MECH ANNO table style. Now they are all showing up the correct size in my layout.

It totally worked and I am happy with the results!
