Annotation Scale in Paper Space

I'm in a layout. With nothing selected properties pallette shows an annotative scale of 1/8" = 1'-0". how can I change this to be 1'-0" = 1'-0"? Why do some drawings show 1'-0" = 1'-0" and some open at a different scale?

do you have a viewport active in paper space?

if your viewport is open but cant see the borders and model space is set to 1/8"=1'-0" that might be your issue

if you have a viewport on a frozen or turned off layer it would appear as nothing selected if the viewport was open.

The problem here is that when I add text or any other annotative object in paperspace the scale is 1/8" instead of 1:1

Thanks: I can't replicate that problem here, is it limited to just this one file? Or do you see this problem in all files?

Can you use CANNOSCALE command manually can you change it?

Annoscale_1st Floor.pngAnnoscale_2nd Floor.pngAnnotative Insert_Small.pngAnnotative Insert_Large.png

All drawings shown are in paperspace with nothing selected. The first picture (1st Floor Drawing) shows the paperspace scale to be 1:1.

The second picture (2nd Floor Drawing) shows the paperspace scale to be 1/8"=1'-0".

The third picture shows an annotative symbol that inserts in paperspace at the correct scale of 1:1.

The fourth picture shows the same annotative symbol inserts at 1/8"=1-0".

The questions are: Why did the first floor drawing layouts come in with a paperspace scale of 1:1 while the second floor layouts came in at 1/8"=1'0" scale?

I tried using "cannoscale" to change it but that doesn't seem to work in paperspace.

I tried changing the annotative scale from the properties palette but that doesn't work.

The big mystery for me is why does one drawing show 1:1 scale and the other drawing show 1/8"=1'0" scale?

I hope I have explained the issue properly. If not I'll try again. I can work with the drawing but in the interest of learning something new about autocad I would like to know what is going on and how to control it. By the way I am using Autocad Lt 2015.

Thanks for your patience!

when you select the Annotative block that scale @ 1'8" =1'-0" can you change the associated annotative scale?

the associated Annotative scale of that block may have multiple scales associated to it.

see image below

i have a block in model space @ 1/8"=1'-0

i have the same block in paper space with (2) associated Annotative scales 1'-0"=1'-0" and 1/8" =1'-0"

when i select the block in paper space i can see both images with the variable (selectionannodisplay) command set to 1

remove all scale from the Annotative Object Scale List except the 1'-0"=1'-0"

I had one drawing a few years back that did this to me.  I never did figure out how to change it.  I did add mleader and dimension styles, and text styles that are not annotative and use those in PS just in case another file changes on me.  I think it did eventually end up back at 1:1 but not on anything I tried, not that I can repeat anyway.

Thanks Grant,

I can work with the file okay. It's more or a curiosity than anything else. It just irks me when I can't find away to change something when it seems like it should be so simple.

Hi @miket1210,

Is it possible to share your file (or a portion of it) by attaching it to a post? I would like to see if it is computer specific or if there is something else I can do to correct this issue for you.

Hi @miket1210,

I am curious if you can share the file so I can examine it. If not publicly I can also give you another way to send me the file.

@john.vellek,

I just ran across a strange PS/anno scale issue.

In the attached drawing, there are two layout tabs;

  • both tabs show the annotation scale as 1:1
  • both tabs have a basic revision cloud and an annotative delta block (with an annotative scale of 1:1).
  • The first tabs, annotative delta works fine.
  • On the second tab, the delta does not appear when ANNOVISIBLE=0, even though it's anno scale matches the PS anno scale.

Let me know if you see athe same thing.

Thanks!

Hi @clindner,

Audit found 4 errors in the file and I suspect that the 2nd layout is bad. I create a new layout, copied the content from layout 1 and it appears as expected.
