Annotation dimension not scaling properly, but DIST and MEASURE return the correct results

I'm still trying to learn the ropes of AutoCAD. I have a drawing where some of it was imported as an XRef (so I can't select that layer) and I want to annotate it with dimensions. I'm in Model Space and everything is drawn 1:1. I can use the DIST or the MEASURE commands and both return the correct result. However, when I try to apply the annotations, I get some ridiculous number in the hundreds of feet long (for a window). I can't quite figure out what's going on.

The forum won't take my screencast, so here it is.

Thanks.

1) your DIMSTYLE is incorrectly set.
2) Annotative Scale selection ought to be anything NOT listing XREF (your top two for example): nothing to do with your issue except for scaling.

Why not share your DWG file with everyone here to try, lets see your settings for everything.

Whoops, it won't let me edit anymore. I meant it's drawn at 1/2" = 1'

I originally started with the non xref scales and got the same thing.

I would upload it, but I'm not sure if my company would like that and it's also nested with a bunch of XRefs.
