All text shifting after drawing saved and re-opened...

I'm running into an issue with my single line and multi-line text shifting ever so slightly either the left or right. This only occurs when I go back to the drawing after I've finished drafting and have saved and closed the drawing. Oddly enough, once I select the entity, select one of the nodes/anchors/handles, it jumps back into place. I wouldn't have too big of an issue with this problem, however if I do not go through the process of selecting and selecting a node/anchor/handle, the text will stay as shown in plotting. I'm using a client supplied .shx file and i'm wondering if that could be the issue. For clarity purposes, all text is affected, even those in blocks.

I've attached a couple PDFs to show how minor the shift is. The file "Upon opening" is after I've saved and close and then come back to it. You'll notice the qoutations of the text is overlapping a line. The file "Handle Selected" is exactly what it is. I select the text and then select the center handle and you'll see that the text shifts itself with my cursor not yet having moved. Sometimes it's to the left. Sometimes it's to the right. I've experimented with justification settings only for it to happen with every justification.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? I wouldn't mind working around it but when my drawings consist of several hundred annotations, it can be very frustrating, especially when dealing with limited space in the drawing.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thank you,

Duy

Did you save it to early version (2007 and earlier)

and reopen with newer version?

That would be the case for most of the text. The drawings I'm working on date back as far 2000. So I'm sure it's been open and saved several times over several versions of AutoCAD by several companies before reaching my office. The only thing I'm unsure of is how old the .shx file is. Does that affect the new text that I add? And the text in blocks as well?

Yes it did.

Some fonts changed (Romans, Simplex...) around 2004

and Windows .TTF fonts changed too.

Which version of AutoCAD are you using? Plain or Civil 3D?
What version of AutoCAD is the file saved to?
As a general issue... Fonts and text handling changed during the AutoCAD 2007 era, you have to fix these older files in newer AutoCAD versions and not save down lower than 2007.

That's a bummer. If that is the case then unfortunately, my client is pretty strict with altering anything other than the work that I do on their drawings. I suppose a meeting will have to be scheduled in the near future. They're using Edison as their standard font.

Pendean,

I'm using AutoCAD Raster Design 2014 and AutoCAD 2014. I'm not sure which versions my client has used previously, but by default, our software is defaulted to save as 2010/2010LT. Typically, we receive files from the clients, copy the files for our network, work on those and then send the hard copies or PDF's. I guess there's no simple solution for this issue.
