aligned dimension properties showing MText

aligned dimension properties showing MText

I suddenly notice some of my dimensions are showing the properties as MText and not as aligned dimension that was used as the command to add them.  I discovered this when I selected a dimension and noticed there are not any grips where the extension lines would be (I have the extension lines suppressed).  Other dimensions in my maps show normally and with all the grips.  Is there anything to explain this, has something I am not aware of been toggled that is causing this? I am using Map3D 2014, and the 2D drafting workspace,
Thank you for any advice you can give me.  Take care, stay safe and have a nice day.

Hi @Anonymous check your DIMASSOC  variable, it may be set to 0 which would explode the dimension after inserting. You will want to set it to 1 or 2

It's  showing as Mtext because it is just a normal Mtext and not a dimension.

What happend? We dont know,

but possible are two things

1. Creation process: Dimassoc as stated above

 or/and

2. Command Explode/Xplode

Thank you!! Changing the DIMASSOC to 1 resolved the issue for newly added dimensions.  Am I just out of luck for the other dimensions that were added when the setting was at 0?  Is there a way to select those dimensions and "un-explode" them?

Once they are exploded you would have to recreate them to make them dimensions again.
