This may have been asked before but I'm not sure what the function is called so I will try my best to explain it.

I am on AutoCad 2019 on an MSI Laptop.

When drawing a line I used to be able to hover over an existing point, once the snap is shown I drag the mouse over and type in 6" (for example), and the beginning of my line starts 6" from the established point, then I can carry on with the rest of my line work.
My hang up is when I type in 6" and hit enter, the start of the line picks a random spot, sometimes even picking different random spots upon repeated tries of the same starting point and same dimension input.

This use to work, now it does this. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: Ok so after messing around a bit, I have found that if I type 6" (again, for example), and do not move the mouse, the extension line created goes away and picks a seemingly random spot. I then have to, after typing in the dimension, start the process over again and hover over the existing point and drag in direction I want, then hit enter.

So My question has changed slightly,

Why is it doing this now?

Maybe you need to turn on Object Snap tracking. Press F11 to turn it on and off

I have the correct Osnaps on. It still does it. I have edited my post to reflect what I have found out since posting this. I know how to remedy in the short term I guess but I still would like to know why it is seemingly messing up?

You need to drag the line in a certain direction first before entering the number, otherwise it doesn't know if you want 6" to the left, right, up or down.

1. Is your commandline Docked? [CTRl+9]

Docked => Real docked comm, andlines going from the left to the right over the full range.

2. Make sure your OSNAPCOORD is not set to 0 (best value is 1), 2 is default

Somehow, this worked. I turned this off a while ago because it slows down how quickly I can draw a bit.

Thanks!
