HI @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

If you browse to the shortcut (mine is here: C:\Users\vellekj\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2017\R21.0\enu\Plotters\Plot Styles), you can rt-click it and select Properties.

You want to verify that the Target path is correct. It is likely that the actual executable is in "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 20xx\styshwiz.exe"

Then, also check the Start in location which is likely: "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 20xx\Plot Styles\"

your image did not attach for some reason. Typically when this happens here, it is because a new install (back when we used deployments) placed the shortcut in our main folder.  we just delete the shortcut and everything is fine in the world.  I'm not sure why they still have the add a plotter wizard, I'm sure some people might use it.  I dont think I have used it in 10 years (we only plot to pdf any more these days)

I agree, I'm not sure why AutoCAD adds the "Add-A-Plot Style Table Wizard" shortcut to the Plot Styles paths. This path is different for each major release (e.g. 2020 vs. 2021) and from what I have read on the C3D forum the plot style paths should vary between versions. However, this is fairly inconvenient to manage.

Is there a purpose of this shortcut from within AutoCAD? Can you prevent this shortcut from being created?

Just delete it after the fact is all you can do if you don't want it.
