ACAD 2016 Zoom badge

ACAD 2016 Zoom badge

I spent the day loading up 2016 and so far so good except for one problem. I don't like the cursor badges so I set CURSORBADGE to 1 just like in 2015, and they all go away except for Zoom. I tried turning them on and off several times, restarting ACAD, etc., but no matter what I do, I still get that magnifying glass badge. Anyone else have this happen yet?

I see it also. I will add it to my spreadsheet of customer concerns that I'll try to get fixed (if it was not intentional) as quickly as possible. Thanks for bringing it up.

I can't believe something like this wasn't caught by our "beta testers"

I use transparent Zoom (ie the wheel) almost exclusively, so it's likely I wouldn't have noticed this at all had it not been pointed out.

I also use the wheel 90% of the time, and when I don't and use the ZOOM command instead I'm too quick for my eye to really register the badge unless I'm looking for it.

'wheel' zoom user here too: only type I type anything is ZE for an 'extents' fix to snap things back to view.

Did you sign up for this Beta? if not, consider it for the next version, the more people involved with more things are caught.

Never signed up for beta, but a few of these items which I have found in 2016 (zoom badge, Start tab and the hatch origin problem) showed up on the first day I was using it, so they are making me reconsider. I know everyone uses AutoCAD totally different so it would seem like a good idea to have more users involved. As a side note, I never could get use to the wheel zoom. I have had my F4 key set to Zoom Window and my F5 set to Zoom Previous for as long as I could remember, so I guess I have to deal with that magnifying glass for now. Hopefully they will fix it.

The more people join in, the more issues get noticed since none of us work the same way. That hatch origing is a biggie although it's not feature I use often enough either. The others, not so much for me.

Stevev0983:

Sorry, off-topic, but what is the 2016 Hatch Origin bug?

Hi @SaturnRanchArchitecture,

Yes, is you set the cursorbadge=1 in AutoCAD 2016, it should no longer show the magnifying glass in Zoom.

This is also true of AutoCAD 2017.

Hi @SaturnRanchArchitecture,

It doesn't show for me. Have you applied the hotfixes and service packs?

Thanks, John. That did the trick. I only installed 2016 last week and wrongly assumed the download was current.

To disable this "badge" icon, set the CURSORBADGE variable to 1.
