3d objects losing grips

When moving objects in my 3d model everything seems to work fine and I save and close but occasionally when I reopen the drawing I find the objects I moved or worked on in my last session have been separated from their grips which are in the new position.

I have tried the work arounds (cut and paste etc..) but the only one which works is double clicking the offending objects grip and it jumps back to position. This however is very time consuming as there are usually a lot of objects moved in a session.

Am I doing something wrong when moving the objects or is this still a known issue with autocad

Can you show us an image?
What AutoCAD version is this? What is the PC specs and OS (and video card)?

Hi, thanks for responding

I am using a standard 16gb ram Microsoft Surface Book, Windows 10,  I realize the video card may not be perfect but the problem occurs intermittently with very small models and large ones but only when I have moved objects. Mostly I can work for days moving things all over the place with no issues at all.

It happens when using both 2013 & 2017 versions.

Hi

Sorry about slow response, I've added an attachment, new to community so don't know if it is the best way to add screenshot.

Hi @hamish.maclean,

Does your Surface book have both the Intel and nVidia cards installed?

This looks like it is really a graphics card issue. Some users have had luck by turning off the nVidia card (even though it still gets used) for better performance. Others have indicated changing the screen resolution has helped.

Please feel free to attach a drawing so I can take a look and perhaps eliminate it from the list of potential causes.

Hi hamish.maclean,

I worked with your drawing and couldn't duplicate the issue in AutoCAD 2017 (perhaps I am following procedure than you are.) However, I still feel that this is likely a graphics card issue.

I am checking back to see if my post helped you with your problem or if you need additional assistance or information. Please add a post with how you decide to proceed and your results so other Community members may benefit.

I don't know what you are doing to cause the problem but you are apparently not alone.  See this link for a possible fix.

Possible causes:  bug in autocad, solid creation using non-AutoCAD tools, or custom move command.
