3D modeling a ramp

Hi,

as i understand ... that you want to extrude that small ramp at the edge around your building . if it's like that i suggest to use EXTRUDE command ( Path ) option .

hi Habash. I can no do an extrude command. i must be able to draw a
line from end to end 3" apart to replicate wood lap siding

You need to change your UCS so that it is coplanar with the slope you want to draw the lines on.

The USC is different at opposing ends of building

Select the siding line, COPY. For a base point, select the bottom end of the right ramp (as shown in your video), choose the ARRAY option (still within the copy command), now input the "items to array" quantity (9, looks like?), select the 'Fit' option, and now choose the other end (top) of the same line of the ramp. This will essentially path array your line. 

Now use the TRIM command to clean up the other end of the lines.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you're trying to achieve. Is the attached what you want?

Align the UCS to one of the slopes and draw the lines. Then change the UCS back to World and mirror the lines to the opposite slope. Then connect the two sets of lines with new lines.

OK, so you want to change the UCS so you can draw the ramp.

1. Change your view to FRONT.
2. From 3D modeling workspace, Home Tab=>Coordinates Panel=>3 Point Icon. See red circle below.
3. Command will ask for origin point=>Click bottom left corner of building. (Be precise.)
4. Next command line will ask for positive portion of x-axis=>Click bottom right corner of building. (Be precise.)
5. Then command line will ask for positive portion of y-axis=>Click top left corner of building directly above your origin point. (Don't click the roof, click the top of the exterior wall, be precise.)
6. Your UCS icon will now be orientated so x-axis is ground surface and y-axis is height of building and you can now draw your ramp. To return UCS, click the UCS icon. See red check mark below.Circle=3Point. Check mark=UCS.

Try using a profile and sweep it along the path (perimeter) of your trim.
