Like I finished everything and they said everything is okay except the commode and washbasin in 2d isometric.  I did restaurant in 2d isometric because there is no memory space for 3d in restaurant. How do I do commode and washbasin in 2d isomteric?

Hi,

hg.png

i have a comments after i see the above image:

>> everything and they said everything is okay << NO.. what i see in your file and the way you did your 3D is NOT acceptable.usually we do it as you did when we have a little and small detail that we want to show it or a general mass shape that we want to use it to make our point.

>> I did restaurant in 2d isometric <<  there is nothing called 2d Isometric!!!!!

>> because there is no memory space for 3d in restaurant. << would you clarify this sentence?

i know that you have spent hours to finish the restaurant but i'm afraid that you are at the wrong direction.my advise for you is to start learning how to do 3D models by 3d commands that will help you to achieve it.i feel sorry for your efforts especially when you have to modify your design or add another elements.

all respect for your efforts and i wish to you a nice day ... :cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:

Good Luck..

I tried doing it in 3d but the autocad was not responding. Is it due to lack of memory space? Likw what should I change in it?

Are you using AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT??  Last I heard LT doesn't have 3D capabilities.

Circles in isometric are drawing with the ELLIPSE command like you did the tables (I assume).  Shapes that are already elliptical will require a third angle projection of points to reproduce in iso.

Its Autocad but its not responding for certain 3d commands and moving of blocks. It worked okay in 3d for hotel which I did before this. What is third angle projection of points? In 2d I'm not able to do the lower part of the wasbasin and commode, the part below the ellipse which contains the hollow .

Sorry but I must agree with imadhabash.  Your techniques in the attached drawing are extremely poor (mixing 3D and 2D to get isometric views).

You reference terms like "third angle projection" which has NOTHING to do with pictorial drawing (isometric).  I have to recommend that you study up on isometric by trying some tutorials like http://www.mycadsite.com/tutorials/level_3/isometric-drawing-in-autocad-3-2.htm

Once you understand the isometric basics you will be able to use lines and isocircles to represent almost any objects you wish.

Hi Priya,

The easiest way to do this is to grab a 3D block of the fixtures, display it in an Isometric position and then put it on a 2d Plane. I did this by simply creating a PDF of the 3D and then importing the PDF into a dwg.

I have attached a sample that is pretty crude but might give you enough to draw on top of to create your fixtures.

First and third angle projections are basic step one drafting techniques, until those are understood taking step two to isometric drafting will be cumbersome.  AutoCAD is a tool, an electronic pencil (in 2D) with some cool features, without basic drafting skills drawing in AutoCAD is, at the very best, a cartoon sketch.  Owning AuotCAD will not make one a drafter any more than owning a cape will make one Superman.

Hi Priya,

Regarding the problem you are having getting 3D to work. Can you tell me your exact version of AutoCAD by typing ABOUT at the command line and then tell me what operating system you have on your computer? I would also like to know which graphics card and driver you have installed.

Gosh its fab. Thanks alot. Its already in isometric view and I just have to tile it and drag it into the drawing right?

When I typed "about" the autocad stopped responding. Its autocad 2014 but it isnt licensed. Its student version downloaded from the web. My brotheer is software engineer and knows how to do that.

I tiled it but not able to drag it into the restaurant file. What could be the problem?

Hi Priya,

Did you also tell me at one  point that you are on Windows 10? If so, that might be part of the crashing problem as AutoCAD 2014 is not designed to work on Windows 10.

If you are still on Windows 7 perhaps you can have your brother take a look at your computer to make sure that things are clean and working properly.

Also, can you try AutoCAD 2017? You can use a trial version free for 30 days. Check with your instructor to verify that you can get a license for this.

As far as the file I attached for you, open it, clean it up a bit, and then wblock the two fixtures so you can insert into your master file.

I inserted the bathroom fixtures. Its so cute. Could you tell me one more thing. One of the students in my class, the old lady, had put an actual picture on the wall. I tried putting it using IMAGEATTACH but since its in 2d its in the wrong plane. How do I do it?

Hi Priya,

Similar to creating a 2D isometric view from a 3D model, I suggest first crating a Picture frame in 3D. I used Rectangle and then Presspull to get mine fabricated.

Capture1.PNG

Then, find the JPG image you want to put in the frame.

In a 3D Workspace, go to the View tab on the Ribbon and open your Materials Browser. At the bottom select the icon the lets you add a material to the library. Next select the Add Generic Material.

Capture2.PNG

You will now see a Material open in the Material Editor. Change the name to one that you will recognize later.

Then click on the right side of the Image Field and select IMAGE. Browse to your image and click OK. Click on the Image preview to adjust its settings such as brightness, Width and Height.

Capture3.PNG

Lastly, Select a rectangle inside your picture frame and apply your material to it.

Then select an isometric view using the NavCube

Lastly, decide how you want top insert it into your other file. I suggest perhaps simply saving this ass a jpg or pdf will work the easiest.

Capture4.PNG

Then, lastly insert it into your drawing.

Capture5.PNG

I have attached my sample but I trust that you will go through these steps and select an image appropriate for your design. (DON'T use mine as you won't learn how to do it by yourself)
