2D Dimensional Constraints go bad/corupt

2D Dimensional constraints go bad for some reason and I have to delete them as they are then useless and also print when the drawing is plotted. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi @DAVIDDEARDORFF6551, could you post the file your are working on or some pictures of the error

Here is just one that has gone bad. There were many more parametric dimensions that this. You will have to go to the parameters manager to see them, as they will not show up in the model. Performing an recover causes autocad to move the dimensional constraints to a "$AUDIT-BAD-LAYER". If this dwg file does not provide enough info as an example, I will try to find another one.

Hi,

Nothing attached here.

Whenever command _AUDIT finds errors it might create these layers.

But it should not be the default that saving a dwg-file destroys components of the drawing ... except of:

  • you save to an old dwg-format
  • you open and save the file from different software releases/service-packs
  • you open and save the file from different verticals
  • you open and save the file while using 3rd party applications not on all workstations (you work with that file)
  • your antivirus (local or server) blocks some write access.
  • some write errors from the operating system (local or network).

Verify these tips and let us know if you do have questions to that.

Marco,

I know it's been a little while, but this is still an issue. I have (tried) to upload a file with the problem that reoccurs fairly often with 2D dimensional constraints.

Best to my knowledge, I haven't done any of your suggestions that would cause my issue. The constraints just seem to spontaneously go bad. ie. do not display, or display but are in-editable, moved to a "bad layer". BTW, I have a subscription, so I never save to an old dwg format.

Hi @DAVIDDEARDORFF6551

I just watched the file you send, I can see the dimensional constrains and I can modify them, and the file seems to work fine. I just purge the registers of the file, try with this fileSin título.png

Yes, however, they will not hide and eventually they will "go bad", plot, become useless and will have to be deleted. This usually happens when I do a recover on a file like this.

Marco, I know it's been a while, again but I am still having issues with dimensional constraints going bad. They will be fine for a while but will eventually get put on $AUDIT-BAD-LAYER. I have attached another file.

Alfred,

I know it's been a while but I am still having problems with this issue. Dimensional constraints go bad regularly. ie; will not display, get put on $AUDIT-BAD-LAYER and sometimes, when they don't display, the parameters manager isn't any help. I have attached a file for you if you'd like to investigate.
