2020 - edited Default Scale List not saved

In 2020 if you edit the Default Scale List, the changes are not saved.

I tried also to add manually missing registry but 2020 is deleting them.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

2019 it's OK.

Hi,

you can use the registry to save your predefined values, the key to the registry is:

For AutoCAD 2019 English:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R23.0\ACAD-2001:409\Scale List

For AutoCAD 2020 English:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R23.1\ACAD-3001:409\Scale List

So you can export from the registry to a .REG-file, then edit this file in an ascii-editor to change product and version to your new version and type and language of AutoCAD (the orange part of the path shown), save the file and import it into the registry. (Warning: as always when doing manual changes in registry ... you may damage your system, so take care)

There is no key named Scale List

If I add Scale List key, after editing and saving a custom metric Default Scale List the key is deleted.

Hi,

>> There is no key named Scale List

Please find my screenshot pointing to this registry content:

A sample of my REG-file with my default scales is attached too.

I added to key using reg file.

Open AutoCAD > the new scales are present

Click OK on the Default Scale List.

Close AutoCAD > the Scale List key is deleted entirely from registry

Not on my side.

After I imported the REG-file I can open AutoCAD, command _OPTIONS and get the new defaults shown, I can also use command _SCALELISTEDIT ==> option "Reset" and my new list is working well here too.

It seems that my 2020 is asking for a fresh install.

Thank you very much.

Hi,

All with 2020 have this issue, does my workaround transferring the registry from a prev. version help?

good day,

I too am having this issue, when I open my reg key (Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R23.1\ACAD-3001:409) there is NO "Scale List"

also, this key doesn't exist in any 2020 product. AutoCAD 2020 and Civil 3D 2020 is the only version I currently have installed.

 steps I used:

1: right-clicked on ACAD-3001:409 then NEW then KEY, rename "New Key #1" to "Scale List"

2: downloaded your zip "DefaultScaleList_2020_AC_EN.zip" file and imported that to my new KEY

     3. save / exit reboot machine and launch AutoCAD.

this key remains until I open "Default Scale List..." and edit a valve then its deleted and I am back to where I started.

it doesn't matter if it's Metric or Imperial or AutoCAD / Civil 3D ALL edits are gone and the values are back to the original.

side note, I can open _SCALELISTEDIT and my list from the template are still there, but if I RESET they are then messed up.

thank you

Hi,

>> there is NO "Scale List"

Yes, it needs to be created.

>> this key remains until I open "Default Scale List..." and edit a valve

That's why I first wrote that you should take the values from YOUR previous AutoCAD registry content, so you have your complete list and don't need to edit it later.

Editing this list (within options ==> default scales) is not possible currently, we have to wait for an update get that working.

Thank you very much for the workaround solution!  I'm still waiting for Autodesk to fix the original problem before I deploy version 2020 though.

I went through this kind of situation last year with 2019 and the tool palettes, having to implement a workaround and then change everything back when they finally fixed it.

I'm too busy with real work (the stuff clients pay us to do) to spend time cajoling Autocad into working properly (the stuff we pay Autodesk rather handsomely to do).

If anyone from Autodesk is listening... could we please have at least an estimated timeframe for this to be fixed?  Please?

Autodesk replied saying, "Yes, this is something we have fixed internally so it should be part of the next update for 2020."

It is an AutoCAD problem, not a C3D problem(and you are in an AutoCAD Forum here).

So check your AutoCAD version. Command: ABOUT

2020.1.2 is current, what is your Version?

Update your system, then write more in detail what your problem is, if still present.

Hi,

>> Autodesk® Civil 3D® 2020.3 Update

As @cadffm wrote, it's the AutoCAD update you are missing.

From these updates you have only installed the Civil 3D part, but not the AutoCAD part ...

So back to:
>> The update(s) did not solve my problem

The AutoCAD update does solve the issue, you'll need to install this type of update too
