2018 autocad on 2017 MBP through parallels

I am trying to install 2018 windows autocad on my 2017 MBP using parallels. I am running windows 10 through parallels. When I download 2018 autocad I receive a message saying it can not install because my device is not supported. I am enrolled as a student in a CAD program and need the windows version for this class. Please if anyone could help with this issue, it would be amazing. Thanks!

@john.vellek thank Thank you for your help. I should have anticipated this possible problem instead of waiting for the time crunch.
I'd spend less than $200 on bumping up the ram to 16GB on the mini & will forsake the SSD. Will it be painstakingly slow ? What are the minimum hardware requirements for a Mac doing 3D rendering ? Is there a primer for naive Mac users trying to figure out the minimum & optimal hardware requirements to run AutoCad 2018 in windows on a Mac machine ? I won't be the only one in Silicon Valley colleges dealing with teachers that are Mac-phobic.

Hi @Anonymous,

I have not found any specific articles internally that say much about this.  Here is a link though to a Guide on implementing Revit on a MacBook and it looks like it should give you some basic things to consider.

@john.vellek sorry but I found that source even more confusing. I will be running autocad 2018 on Windows native (no VM app) on a Mac (not necessarily a MBP). What are the hardware requirements to do this ?

The recommendations from the link I provided are as follows:

15”MacBook Pro with a Discrete Graphics Card (Radeon R9)

16 GB Ram (in the VM -Bootcamp, Video RAM will be taken from this amount so allocate approx.. 8GB for video and 8GB for VM)

Use DirectX 9 or 10

VMware Parallels might be slightly different but I suggest you check their forums to see how others have configured their VM.

Just to help out....

I am running Parrallels Desktop Version 11.0.0 (31193) and Autocad MEP 2017 on my Macbook Pro 15 touchbar 2016 running High Sierra and have no problem.  If you need further specs then respond but actually works really well... I was highly surprised.  Once the file loads it runs pretty close to my work workstation with high end Nvidia graphics.
