2016 Installation

When attempting to download the setup file for 2016, my firewall blocks it as the firewall thinks there is a trojan in the setup file. After working around that, the setup program returns a message that either the requested files are no longer where they should be, or the firewall (which is completely disabled) is blocking the download. Maybe we can simply download one file and run that to install. Kinda just like we've done in the past, for decades.... Has someone devised a means to install 2016 yet?

Are you attempting to download from within your account  ( accounts.autodesk.com)   If so, look for a "more actions" button under the "InstallNow" button.    The last option, "Browser Download", is the traditional style download that you've described.

Normally, I'd recommend using the Autodesk Virtual Agent, but I don't believe it has been updated to include and 2016 version products yet.

I used the download manager last night and it worked like a charm.  It took 20 minutes and unpackaged everything ready to do the set up. Quite a bit faster than browser download.

Tried DL 2016 twice yesterday, and once this morning.

I've tried the Browser download and it gets to 80% download and fails, click retry and its keeps stating download failed.. My Firewall is not the problem.

Any ideas. thanks. RDO

Finally got the DL to complete. I let the Autodesk unpack the file to C:\Autodesk and when it completed this popped up on the screen, how can that be? the only install is the ACAD2016.

See attached.

thx,

RDO

Because you tried multiple times the Autodownloader has multiple iterations of installations in progress unless you specifically cancel them from the little gray installation box that shows up. They will all be listed there. You just highlight each one and delete or cancel them preferably before starting a fresh download.

I would expect the "install now" process is still partially running.  You could kill it in Windows Task manager, but my suggestion is just Reboot, then go into the AutoCAD  Autodesk folder where the files extracted and double-click the Setup file to manually launch the installer. (see attached)

OK, killed the DLMsession in processes in the TM. Shutdown CPU & restart.
Wentn to the file you arrowed to, clicked setup.exe and the brown install/ retry popped up again. Went to look at TM again and DLMSession & AdAppMgr. are active. Do they auto start at every CPU boot?

thx,

OK, got it. Rebooted and went to TM first. Killed both AppMrg & DLMS. Went to C:\AutoDesk and clicked Setup.exe. and install screen appeared.

Thanks for the dialog.

Thanks for the update, I had not run into that before, but it kinda makes sense that the DLMG tries to resume after reboot, since resuming after interuption is kinda the whole point of a DL Manager.  I'll have to keep this in mind for future reference.

Good luck with the rest of the install  Smiley Happy
