XREF Reload Balloon Reloads Unloaded Xrefs

Hello all,

I am a long time Autocad user, at least 15 years. I have usedmostly PC but have been using Mac on my own for about 5 years. I struggle with the relative lack of features compared to PC. It is getting better so I have a lot of hope. My specific challenge now is everytime an XREF is changed and I get the XREFNOTIFY Balloon popup, Autocad reloads all unloaded xrefs when I click the balloon. This was never the way it worked on PC, and it is a headache to have to unload all the xrefs that need to be unloaded everytime i want to keep my loaded xrefs current. Is there a setting I am missing?

I am using Autocad LT For Mac 2020.

Thanks.

Hi Justin,

Apparently this is a bug in AutoCAD for Mac.
If you will look at the command prompt (in both AutoCAD versions - for Mac and for PC), you will see that picking on the link in Balloon popup calls "-XREF" command with "Reload" option. In both versions an * used for Xrefs names, but on PC the result is more intelligent - it reloads only Xref which was changed and on Mac it reloads all Xrefs.

Maxim,

Thank you. I assume there is no way to change the details of how this works for Mac? I have a hard time accepting that Autocad for Mac has these features that are half way implemented, especially since they work on the PC side. They know the goal, but they dont achieve the goal.

I read your profile, I see that you have a lot of history with ACAD and then switched to Mac. Now that I have my own office for about 2 years, I really struggle with the fact that I prefer the Mac platform, but all of the software that I use is lower quality on Mac than for PC. Clearly there is progress, but I wonder if the Mac side will ever get enough developer attention to catch up.
