Why are the curves segmented into so many small parts?

When I initially drew the curve it was one long part, but as I kept drawing and refining, I noticed that the curve changed into many small segments.   The properties shows that it is a polyline.  Any advice on how to change it back to one long continuous line?

These blue dots are possibly where you clicked while creating the outline object

Did you use SPLINE command to create the object initially? If yes, or unsure, did you (or someone) by chance use FLATTEN command recently in this file?

I think I used the arc command. I might have flattened it but can't remember.

I just tried to flatten it now and it came out wonky, as seen in the new attachment:

ARC command does not draw straight lines like I see in your images, sorry. PLINE command is more likely what was used.

Did someone else touched your FILE? if you have little to no memory of doing much editing or changes to it since initial creation would be another possibility.

Going back to your initial question: what is it you are expecting or wanting to see in the first place?

My best guess is that I extruded it and later decided I needed a 2d version so maybe exploding and or flatting caused this?

I want to offset a portion of the inside of the drawing but it is hard to select the area I need because there are so many segments.  I'm wondering if I need to redraw the entire drawing or if there is a quick fix?

Hi @davidsemail916 ,

You wrote:

It looks like you actually smoothed a polyline created in an XY plane that was not parallel to the XY plane that was active when you used the FLATTEN command.

The number of vertices on this polyline may indicate that it has been flattened or converted from a spline.

So if you need curved polyline with minimum vertices you need to recreate it.
