Maybe you have a bad dxf file. Perhaps compress the file and post that here for community to examine?

I noticed that AutoCAD for Mac DXF translator throws these kinds of errors quite often. At the same time, other applications can open such files without problems.

You can share your DXF here, we'll look at it.
