Viewport in layout won't change scale

Hi all,

I can't seem to change a viewport in layout view to show my drawing properly. No matter what I do the page only shows a very zoomed in view or a very zoomed out view. I have tried all menu options witht he word scale in, including the scale list. I have looked in the properties inspector.

I can not change each viewport scale on the status bar !.

Hi Robert,

Can you describe in more details the issue?
I cannot reproduce it on my side: I mean I'm able to change scale of the viewport with the Scale dropdown list on the Status Bar.

I'm asking once again:
Can you describe in more details the issue? I mean your workflow to set the viewport scale.

BTW, I see 3 viewports are with perspective view and only one with orthographic view (plan). There is no point in setting the scale for the perspective view, it cannot have the scale.

Hi All,

Lately I've been unable to adjust my view port scale even though the view port is unlocked. Also won't allow me to change the model space scale to check annotation text ect. is placed correct. 

 Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jessica,

I am able to change viewport scale in your drawing from Status Bar and from Properties palette (viewport should be selected).

BTW, when I opened your drawing for the first time, the viewport was locked.

About model space scale - there is no annotative text objects in your drawing, so changing scale in model space does nothing as it should.

I have a similar problem, I am unable to change the viewport scale.  Even trying to change through the status bar fails as it is non-interactable.  To get around the problem created a new file and pasted the drawing.  File recover failed to identify any errors in the file.  I would like to know how to fix the file as the copy paste may not work in the future.

@Anonymous those are 3D views, there is no 'print scale' for those, that's not how it all works with rotate UCS 3D views, plus it would be hard to measure when printed: are you just trying to make them smaller or bigger? then just Zoom in/out and change the viewport sizes.

Or did someone really ask you for a scaled print they can measure from to build?

It is part of an assignment, the reason I made note of it was that I was able to change the view port scale once I copied the drawing contents into a new drawing. This is my mind means that there is some sort corruption in the file that the recover process is not able identify.

Reach out to your instructor/assignment provider for a clarification on what the deliverable is meant to be: if I understood your want correctly you cannot assign a viewport/print scale to a 3D view in the program, that's just not a thing to deliver to anyone.

I'm able to change scale of viewport with scale list on the Status Bar in the drawing you attached.
So it's not clear what you mean.
Another thing is that changing the scale of a three-dimensional projection does not make sense as @pendean wrote about it.
