Using Project Geometry

Using Project Geometry

Hi everyone,

I've read the guide on "PROJECT GEOMETRY (COMMAND)" on this site, and I also read this link: https://www.cadforum.cz/cadforum_en/how-to-project-geometry-to-any-3d-surface-tip7297

But I can't seem to figure out the project geometry tool.

Here is what I have. The .dwg file created from illustrator, and the object (business card holder) I've made side by side.

I then select the text, punch in projectgeometry, then select the object, then get this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Yahya,

If you are trying to project geometry with View option (I see this at the Command window) from the view you attached, then most likely you will not get any result. If you are using View projection option, you need to place objects you want to project above the solid, then "projection rays" will cross the solid and objects will be projected.
If I'm wrong in my assumptions: Can you attach your drawing here? I'll look at it.

Attached is the file.

I tried putting the text underneath the object and selecting UCS, but still didn't seem to do anything.

And is there a way to group items where when you select one, they all get selected? I grouped the text, but they still get selected individually.

Please teach me instead of doing it for me because I'm very keen on learning AutoCAD to use frequently.

Thank you so much for your time

Please look at the drawing in the attachment.

Is that what you need?

Yes exactly. So the text has to be above the surface you want to apply it to?

Pretty much what I want is to engrave the text into the object's surface. So I assumed I would need to project it to the surface, then press|pull/extrude into the object then it'd be ready to go.

Could you also walk me through how you did the projection there
