Unlinking viewports for dimensioning purposes help please?

Hi there,

I am trying to sort out using paperspace correctly and efficiently. I keep getting the following problem when dimensioing;

Aim:

To have several viewports showing on the one page eg the whole piece, then 3:1 of one element, 2:1 for another element and so on.  And dimension just the scaled representation of the part.  So NOT have the dimension showing on the viewport that is scaled 1:1.

I have attached a pic of my piece so far with a few weird things happening.. Please note aI have changed settings mid way through drawing this to try and get itr sorted out so that is contributing to the inconsistancy I'm sure. Please help??

To (hopefully) clarify, the viewport in the centre with the long rectangle containg several elements - i dont want any dimenions showing on there.

I am trying to just dimension the clsoeups (eg 3:1 , 2:1) viewport representations of those elements eg on the top left I want to 10mm just on the 3:1,   eg on the bottom right I just want the 20mm on the bottom right viewport closeup.  As for the 23.8mm and 36.49mm dimension I can not explain how this happened.  I think the reason they are out of whack (too big) is becasue I didnt have scale dimension to layout TICKED , but I have no idea gow they are un-linked to the 1:1 viewport in the middle...

Currently my settings are; in the dimension style, modify, fit tab, "scale dimensions to layout - TICKED", but "Annotative" is greyed out

I still am hoping to be able to have changes made in model space connect and be shown in paperspace.  I think Im trying to un-link the viewports.  But keeped model space and paperspace linked.

I hope someone can help me with this - I'm getting pretty confused and cant seem to get it to work :cara_asombrada:

Hi,

I cannot reproduce the issue on my side.
Could you attach the drawing itself?

Hi,

Thanks for taking a look and replying.  I think I'm ok now!  I think what was happening was that I was adding dimensions in model space while on the layout page.. I thought if you were on the layout page that meant you were in paper space.

Now that I have been makimg sure that all dimensions are applied in paper space the issue seems to have magically ceased :cara_guiñando_un_ojo:

Thanks again for your offer and for your time ! :cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:
