Turning off Layer Question in Autocad 2017 MAC

On older version of Autocad, when you selected a layer, it identified it at the top and you could turn it off from that line without dropping down and then searching for the layer to turn off. Am I missing something? I am sure this has been asked before, sorry I am a novice with Autocad Mac. BP

Type in PICKFIRST at the command line, if it's set to 0, set it to 1

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you're posting for the first time. Welcome to the Autodesk Community, and thank you for posting your question here in the AutoCAD for Mac forum.

Are you looking at the Layers Palette? To turn a layer on or off from the Layers Palette window, click the little visibility circles to the left of the layer name. A filled circle means the layer is on, an open circle means the layer is off. You can also use the LAYOFF or LAYON commands, which will prompt you to click an object on the layer you'd like to change.

Hi Billy,

Not sure it was possible in earlier AutoCAD for Mac versions. I tried in 2016 version and clicking on Layers drop down list on the Layers Palette opens the drop down list in any case, looks like the same behavior was in 2011-2015 AutoCAD for Mac releases.

The Layer of the selected object became highlighted in green in the Layers list above the drop down you mentioned. You can turn off that layer from there.

Chris, thanks for your reply but let me try to explain again with the following picture attached, I have close tp 50 layers and on the older versions, I could just click on a object ant it would appear in the top line of the layer manager and I could just click to turn off the layer in the top box without scrolling through 50 layers to find it to turn off. It just made it a lot simpler and quicker. Please see attached picture. I hope this makes sense, thanks so much to everyone for your help. Billy

What "older" version do you mean?

I’m so sorry, I may have gotten my wires crossed, I started out using Autocad LT, 97, 98 2005, 2010 then switched to MAC version, now that I think about it, I may have never been able to do this in the MAC versions, only the Windows versions. I am sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused asking this question. Thank you for your help. Billy
