Tool Sets Palette

Hi, I'm using Autocad 2015 for Mac, I'm recently having problems with the tool sets palette that has been growing thinner over the last months, it's uncomfortable because I often end up closing it by mistake. I'm also having problems with the scale when I try to insert a raster image reference (.jpg), although I insert 1 as scale factor the image turns out to be a lot smaller than 1:1 so every time I need to scale it by myself after having inserted it. Any suggestion? Thank you

There are various factors involved with how AutoCAD scales images. For starters, DPI will make a difference.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Camilla,

1. About the issue with Tool Sets palette :
Have you tried to reset palettes? Use menu Window -> Reset Palettes

2. About raster images scale - please look here:

Thank you! The tool sets problem is now solved. Unfortunately I was not able to scale an image even if I tried both ways (ALIGN and SCALE), when I use the Align command the raster image just grows smaller, the scale command instead doesn't seem to have any effect. I also have just noticed that this scale issue involves only A4 scanned sheets, because when I import A3 sheets they are already scaled 1:1 by default settings (don't know if this actually means something).

Is the resolution of the scanned images of sheets A4 and A3 the same?

I don't know, I didn't scan these sheets myself, but I know they must have been scanned in the same place more likely with the same device.

You can check image resolution in Preview app (menu Tools -> Show Inspector):

Yes, they both have the same resolution: 300 pixels/inch.

Can you attach here one of the problem raster images? Or you can send it to my email address :

I'll look at it.

Hi Camilla,

I tried to play with your scanned raster image in AutoCAD 2016 and haven't noticed something unusual:
- I can use SCALE command ant it scales the image as it should
- ALIGN command just align the image without scaling it as it should "by design"

The actual size of the raster image when you insert it to the drawing with 1:1 scale is 11.6933 x 8.2667. This is because the "units" of this "raster" image written in EXIF section are inches.

Maybe the "units" of A3 raster image are mm. That is why it (A3) inserts with proper dimensions into the metric drawing.

Great! I'll try again paying attention to this inches/mm difference.

Thank you for your help and patience.
