I just loaded Autocad 2023 for Mac, and I can no longer scroll through dwg files to preview drawings. Can someone tell me how to get that function back?

HI @mdoucetteTWQR3 ,

Please specify macOS version installed on your Mac.

Where and when you cannot scroll trough DWG files?

Please give us more details, screenshots, etc.

Hi @mdoucetteTWQR3 ,

I think the problem is in QuickLook plugin, that macOS uses to generate DWG preview.

From your screenshot I see that DWG file has incorrect association on System level:

It is registered as "DXF/DWG document", but should be "AutoCAD drawing":

As the result, macOS cannot use AutoCAD QuickLook plugin to generate drawing preview.

Can you see DWG preview when you select DWG file in Finder and hit Spacebar?

I think you can try to reinstall AutoCAD - uninstall it with Remove AutoCAD application and install again.

I have the same problem with Finder showing the .dwg thumbnails.  (note in finder it shows the thumbnails for PDF's but not .dwg files)  However, it will show the thumbnail preview if its on or you select the file and hit the spacebar, so the thumbnails are being generated.

But my number one issue is that the ACAD welcome window is not showing the thumbnails anymore for drawing saved using ACAD 2023 MAC.  The Welcome dialogue still shows thumbnails for the older drawings saved in the previous version of ACAD until I opened them and save them.  Since the new install the icon just shows the classic .DWG icon.

I have reinstalled ACAD2023 for MAC and this did not fix the problem.  On a side note it sure would be nice if ACAD of MAC would allow to save a "user profile" so I did not have to remember "23 application preferences" every time I upgrade or reinstall acad.

Mark.

Hi @markQ398L ,

I don't have any issues with DWG thumbnails. What macOS do you have on your Mac?

1/ When you upgrade AutoCAD, you can leave older AutoCAD version on your Mac and migrate custom setting from that version on the first launch of new AutoCAD version.

2/ In AutoCAD 2023 for Mac you can export and import custom settings - use menu Tools -> Export Settings (Import Settings):
