Strange xref behaviour

Hi,

I have a master building drawing OVL1 that has a number of event spaces on it in a large exhibition centre

there are two contractors that collaborate in each space. Party, Breakout, Networking, Plenary

HTH - a technical supplier

TBP - a event designer

we have an overall master drg is made showing all the drawings together to create a composite drawing

where

hth  - party, breakout, networking and plenary individual drawings

and

TBP -  party, breakout, networking and plenary individual drawings

and

OVL1 building drawing are all xrefed in

To be able to work on each area the

HTH contractor would create a drawing for each area such as party

In HTH party drawing

i have a HTH contractors drawing entities and

Overlay xref of OVL1 (clipped with a rectangle window)

TBP Party as an overlay xref

In TBP party drawing

i have a TBP contractors drawing entities and

Overlay xref of OVL1 (clipped with a rectangle window)

HTH Party as an overlay xref

HTH party dwg works as expected, but when i open up but TBP party dwg when i zoom extents, it zooms to a blank space, when i click the OVL xref it shows the correct clipframe and a phantom invisble but now highlighted clip frame that is causing the zoom into open space.

how can i fix this!

tried everything i can think of

As soon as you clip that master drawing then the problem is evident

Hi Peter,

Have you tried to use AUDIT command to find and fix errors in the problem drawing?

Can you share the whole set of drawings here?
Or you can send it to my mail: [email protected]
I'll look at it.

It seems to be connected with clipping the master building overlay In HTH – PARTY drawing

In HTH – PARTY

There is

TBP-OVL2 as overlay clipped

TBP-PARTY as overlay clipped

Ie

In Overall master summit 2019

TBP-OVL2 is an attached xref unclipped

HTH – PARTY is an attached xref unclipped

If you clip the TBP-OVL2 in HTH – PARTY then it shows a phantom clip border when in the SUMMIT Master

Have sent a dropbox link to your email with all the drawings. - let me know if you dont get it

I sent dropbox link ti edited set of drawings to your email.
What I have done:
I changed the type of xrefs in the all drawings in the set from Overlay to Attachment.

Maxim,

Thanks for looking at this, so is this a bug and switching to attached from overlay fixes it, because it would seem that overlay is the right way to go here?

or am I missing something.

Best

Pete.
