Sonoma update via opensource preventing autocad from starting

I am running (or was) AutCAD LT 2021 for Mac with a perpetual licence on a Big Sur OS. Updates to the programme were not available without a later OS so I installed Sonoma via Opensource and everything runs and works fine EXCEPT AutoCAD. The 2021 version wont load at all. I downloaded 2024 as a trial to see if that worked but it gets as far as the splashscreen then gets stuck with an error message. I then have to force quit the programme.  The error message is confusing and doesnt help resolve the problem.

If I have to revert to Big Sur I have to wipe the disc and start again from back ups. Will I be able to reload my legacy AutoCAD and if so how do I go about it.

PS I downloaded 2024 trial onto a macbook air M1 without any issues

Hi @davidv37 ,

If Sonoma is not supported on your Mac for  officially then you installed it with OCLP.

If you installed all OCLP patches and AutoCAD won't launch with them, then AutoCAD graphics system is not compatible with these patches.

BTW:

1/ AutoCAD is supported on official macOS installations. Looks like you need to downgrade macOS on your Mac.

2/ AutoCAD LT 2021 is not supported on Sonoma

3/ There is no (and was not) perpetual licence for AutoCAD LT 2021 for Mac. The last AutoCAD LT for Mac that had perpetual licence was AutoCAD LT 2018 for Mac.

Thanks Maxim, I have installed all patches and the graphics system is obviously not liked by AutoCAD.
If Sonoma doesn't support 2021 and I have to downgrade back to  Big Sur, it seems I will have to wipe the disc to do a clean install. How do I ensure I can get my 2021 version back again.

Hate to disagree with you on your third point, but I definitely have LT21 and a perpetual licence, using it up until yesterday.....!

David,

If your LT 2021 license is perpetual, you shouldn't have any problems activating it.

2021 version is still available for activation for subscribers, so I think it will be possible to activate it in your case too.
