snapping problems

Hello,

I am very new to AutoCad for Mac. I have 2 issues. Please help .

1. My issue is snapping in 3D. My goal was to draw a simple roof. Started with drawing a long  line and the second shorter line perpendicular/ horizontal  to the first one in the middle. I got so far a sort of the a letter "T" upside down. Then I used the PLINE to draw the polyline to create a triangle. Started at the end a long line and try to snap at the top end of the shorter/horizontal line. I can not do it. Only snaping point available is the bottom end of the horizontal line and the line does not want to be connected to anywhere else.

What am I doing wrong ?

When I use just LINE command I have no problem to draw all those regular lines and all lines snap the way I want.

2. Issue of blue snapping points. When I want to draw a polyline to connect to a 3D object I see blue color snapping points. Why blue? So far all snapping points have been green. Where to find more about that issue ?

Thank you

Kris

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Kris,
1. Polyline is 2D object and it's vertices always are on the same plane - that cannot have different Z value. That's why you cannot draw it through the top of the vertical line. The line is 3D object and it's endpoints can have different Z value.

2. Blue snapping marks you see are indicated that 3D snap is active and you snap to 3D elements. You can toggle 3D snap on/off by pressing F4 key on keyboard (or Fn+F4) or in Drafting Settings dialog.
