selected objects not highlighted in active command

Anonymous

Hello everyone,

Somehow I can´t see which objects I´m working with while I´m ececuting a command.

Example: I select two Lines, the Grip edits show up. Then I´m executing the trim command and the lines are not highlighted anymore. Same with other commands.

I remember that objects were highlighted in commands to distinguish them from the rest of the drawing.

Does anyone knows the settings for this?

thanks in advance

Hi,

Please verify HIGHLIGHT system variable. It should be equal 1.

At the command prompt (when no command is active) type HIGHLIGHT and hit Return:

Command: HIGHLIGHT
Enter new value for HIGHLIGHT <0>: 1 <- type 1, if it is 0
Command:

Test highlighting again.

Maxim

The problem still occures.

Objects are only highlighted for a couple of commands, then it stops.

Even if I restart Autocad or the Macbook, objects are only highlighted a couple of commands.

Highlight system variable is 1.

Looks like I have to reinstall autocad?

Hi,
I think you can try to reset AutoCAD at first.
But I'm not sure if this will solve the problem as well as reinstallation.
Which Mac model do you have? Please specify also AutoCAD version and OS X version.
Do you have this problem in all drawings, even in newly created?
Do you have "show line weights" enabled in your drawings?
Is it possible to attach here one of the drawings in which you have "highlight" problem?

Maxim

Hey maxim,

I have a Macbook Pro Retina 15" Early 2013 and Autocad Mac 2015.

It´s maybe a problem due to a lack of memory. I had Safari with a rediculous amount of tabs and a few other apps open.

Now that I closed them it seems to be OK.

The file I´m working with was generated from a 3D Software (Rhino) and I don´t know if only this file was affected.

I´m happy everything works normal for now Smiley Wink

Thank you for your help so far!!

Yes, probably.

I also noticed in some case if you have 3D objects in your drawing (or objects with thickness greater than 0), the "highlight issue" could appear from time to time. You can look at your drawing from other point of view - use 3DORBIT command to check "flatness" of the drawing.

You can also look at this topic:

(my short screencast about 3D objects is on the last page of this topic)
