Hi Guys,

I am not an expert in Autocad but I am sure making a simple revolve shouldnt be that complicated, every time I import a design in illustrator and try to revolve/extrude it in Autocad I fail!

Attached is the design, its a simple spark plug appreciate any help and advise on how to fix this issue permanently.

Thanks,

Ezz

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

You can revolve closed 2D shape in AutoCAD around an axis of revolving and this 2D shape shouldn't intersect itself during revolving (rotation around this axis).
In your case I cannot find a way to comply with this condition. Where do you want to put an axis of revolve?
In addition, when you export drawing from AI you get splines in AutoCAD, and even it seems that all segments are straight (this is a condition for revolve axis), in fact the segments could be curves of exported spline.

I'd suggest you to create the shape for revolving inside AutoCAD, but not in AI.

Maxim

Thanks Maxim, but some shapes are easier and faster to make in illustrator, the axis should be in the middle to form a spark plug. making them in illustrator while i already have them done in ai is very time consuming especially when you a lot of parts. Any way appreciate your help, i will try to make it in autocad again.
thanks.
