"Incompatible file system" installing Autocad 2020 on macOS 13.15 Catalina

Hi there,

I'm trying to install Autocad for student on my MacBook Pro (MacOS 10.15.2 Catalina). This is the error:

"Incompatible File System! Autodesk AutoCAD 2020 for Mac can only be installed on System drive formatted with Journaled HFS+ (Mac OS Extended Journaled) file system."

I've tried with Autocad 2019, 2018 versions, too and the error is the same.

Thank you for any help.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Pasquale,

Looks like you have case-sensitive file system, I believe it is APFS case-sensitive.
You can verify this in Disk Utility application: on the left select your system partition, then select "Get Info" from right-click context menu: look for "Is case-sensitive" parameter - it should be "No".
If it is "Yes", you will not be able to install AutoCAD for Mac (any version).

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I have a case-sensitive partition, but I tried also with a simple APFS partition, and it shows the same error.

Is it APFS partition on the same Mac? If yes, than it is not System
partition and AutoCAD for Mac cannot be installed on non-system partition.

I understand, thank you.

So the only solution is to format the system partition in a APFS file system?

Thank you

Yes.

BTW, why you formatted your System partition with case-sensitive file system? Was there any reason?
