Program Manager with Google Drive = Layout not initialized

Program Manager with Google Drive = Layout not initialized

Our company had been using BOX storage, but recently changed to Google Drive. Since then, Project Manager doesn't work. Previous project links are broken and cannot be updated.

When you "Add Existing Drawing..." within Project Manager, you still are able to navigate to the desired drawing and click "OPEN". Nothing happens. There's no dialogue in the Command Line, either.

If instead you click "New Layout..." within Project Manager, you are able to create a new layout based on templates. I've tried starting here and then changing the "Drawing Location" to my desired drawing as a work-around. From here I get a "Project Manager Error" which states "The following selected files do not contain any initialized layouts: /{file location}".

If I drag the the desired .dwg file to my desktop, Project Manager works as expected. This seems to be an issue with Google Drive. BTW, I did localize all of the drawings to my computer - but still sync'd with Google Drive.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Jason,
How do you access Google Drive on your Mac?
Do you use Google Drive application or some third party app, such as ExpanDrive or CloudMounter?

Google Drive app.

I noticed that Google Drive can be totally cloud based, unlike Box. I did "SYNC" all my drawings to my local computer, though. I expect it to behave like Box.

AutoCAD stories all temporary files related to the opened drawing side by side with it, so that could be the case of the problem.

Google Drive is then incompatible with AutoCad Project Manager?

Probably. I'd say not Project Manager, but AutoCAD itself.
To find out more about problems with Google Drive, when using it with AutoCAD, you also can review these discussions:

In general, with AutoCAD and cloud base storage, you don't want to be working directly out of the folders linked to the online storage system.  The normal method would be to clone/"check out" the files to a separate working folder, then overwrite/"check in" when work is finished.
