Problem printing with Canon IPF605

Problem printing with Canon IPF605

I have a problem changing my file's dpi to 1200.

I am using a Canon IPF605 plotter to print which allows to use 1200 dpi resolution.

When I print from Windows everything works just fine, but in mac it doesn't work.

I am using Autocad 2015 student version in Yosemite, and everytime I try to change the dpi I get an message that says that the dpi must be a value under 150.

I also tried to print from a pdf but the drawings still lose some resolution...

Any suggestions?

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

If you are printing vector data from AutoCAD with 2D Wireframe visual style and have no raster images attached to the drawings, than setting resolution inside AutoCAD doesn't matter.
You need to find resolution settings in your plotter software.

Hi Maxim,

There are no raster references and i'm printing with 2D wireframe.
In the plotter settings I choose 1200dpi but the result is not the expected one.

If i print from a Windows PC with 1200dpi thin lines and hatches have a great quality. The result of printing with Mac and 1200dpi in plotter settings but 300dpi in page setup is the same as printing with Windows with 300dpi.

If I export the file as a PDF and then I print it, the result is like printing with Windows with 600dpi.

File printing configuration is quite similar in Windows and Mac, but in Windows I'm allowed to change quality up to 1200dpi

In Mac, when I set 300dpi I'm allowed to continue, but when I set 1200dpi, a popup notice me than I'm not allowed to use a number bigger than 150.

I attach both screens in Mac and Windows.

On the screen shot of Plot window with settings for Windows version you can see help tool tip with words: "Specifies DPI resolution for rendered and shaded views..."
Do you have resolution problems with rendered or shaded views?
If no, than everything else depend on Canon printer software for Mac, AutoCAD passes vector graphics to the printer software with "unlimited" resolution.

If you are not satisfied with print results on Mac, you can try the trick from this topic:

Maybe it will be helpful.

Accessing printer settings in print dialogue box of Autocad for Mac solves this problem to a larger extent. One can also select line drawings as preset and print up to 1200 dpi.
