Print Dialog only offering option to Save (to pdf) and not directly from AutoCAD. OS 10.12.1.

Are you running AutoCAD 2016? Have you applied all updates?

Hi,

Can you provide more details about the problem? There is no question in your post, just statement.

Hi-
The question was: “Why does the print dialog now offer only the ‘save' option, and not ‘print'." This has happened to a few of our workstations with ACLTMac2016 after upgrade 4 and OS 10.12.1. Once the ‘save' option is chosen and a pdf opens, if it is canceled and the ‘print' dialog invoked again, ‘print' appears. Most confusing.

Hi Leon,

Can you post screenshot of the issue?

I have full AutoCAD 2016 with Update 4 on Sierra and "Print" button is in-place:

If you have this issue only on a few workstations - do you have Adobe Acrobat installed on these workstations?

And do you have Adobe Acrobat on workstations which doesn't show the issue?

Maxim

We have always used Preview, as it is a more flexible and easy-to-use app for our purposes. We hope you’re not implying we’ll have to use Acrobat, as its print formatting interface is so difficult to use. Here’s a screen shot. The problem comes and goes. Thanks for your attention.

No, I'm not going to imply you to use Adobe software. I asked just because according to a few reports here on the Forum there, some users who have Adobe Acrobat on their Macs have difficulties with printing.

And... sorry, but there is no screenshot in your post.

I see.
Very strange.
Could be an issue with AutoCAD or with printing software.
Have you tried to Reset AutoCAD on one of the workstations?

Thanks for your interest. I believe you mean restore all preferences to default. I understand that's the only way to eliminate corruption and other parameters. But we'd be hesitant to do this unless the problem gets worse. We have so many individual settings and, of course, would lose all the palette customizations. Right now, the problem seems to have abated. No one can recreate the issue. The photo was from yesterday. I'll keep you posted.

OK.
Let's hope that was a temporary glitch.

I've suggested logging in as a separate user as a troubleshooting step before resetting your settings to default. In another post. This helps with testing AutoCAD in a default settings state and a new environment on the same system. This way you can keep your settings and profile the same.

Create a new user login on the system having this issue. Post back and let us know if there is no print option in that environment.

Thank you for the advice. If the problem occurs again, I will do just that, and keep you posted.

Hi @Anonymous,

We saw same issue on 10.12 too. And we also see that the issue is gone on the latest OS 10.12 Beta. The issue is related with the Printer Presets. If you Preview before Print, the Print will go to PDF anyway. Would you be able to upgrade the OS to latest Beta to see if solves the problem?

Thanks,
Wei
