Since I've dowloaded Mac OS 13.3.1, the Preview Command is not working. I've tested it with the 2023 and the 2024 versions and nothing works. I can save as a PDF the document but can't have a preview of it before printing. I don't know if it is the new OS or if there is a command I have to do. Does someone have an explanation for this ?

Hi @traitlibredesign ,
What is the default application for opening PDF files on your Mac?
Is it Preview.app or some other?
Can you show screenshot of the Print window from which you are trying to preview the result?
What happens when you pick on Preview button in Print Window?
You have not answered my question:
"What is the default application for opening PDF files on your Mac?"
>>>>when I click on the preview button (red circle on the screen shot).
Unfortunately you forget to attach screenshot.
In order to be able to attach screenshot you need to answer with browser , but not in e-mail.
Hi,
The default application to open a PDF is the Preview application ("Aperçu" in French), the internal application in the OS.
I've included the screen shot now
Do you have this issue with all your drawings?
Or with just one specific drawing?
Have this issue with all the drawings. I've tried different drawings (the oldest on Autocad 2023 and the latest on Autocad 2024). I've noticed the problem when I've made the OS update (13.3.1) on my Mac Studio as everything is OK on my MacbookPro that is on the previous OS version (13.2.1)
When you pick on Preview button, AutoCAD creates temporary PDF file inside
/private/var/folders/XX/XXXXXXXXX/T folder on your Mac.
It is the folder for per-user temporary files and caches.
Could be something wrong with it after the update.
Have you tried to create new admin account on your Mac (just for testing), login to it and test the issue?
Hi,
I create a new admin account and the test worked. Do you have an idea of how to fix the problem on the "normal" profile ?
Thank you
I came back to the original admin profile. The Preview works with new documents. For the drawings already done, I have to change the Printer that was originally "DWG To PDF.pc3". I change for a former printer identification and then it works ! This printer wasn't working before ! I'm lost...
I never use "DWG to PDF.pc3" printer, because it is an old one, which came from old AutoCAD versions.
I use "AutoCAD PDF (xxx).pc3" printers instead.
Update !
When I open a new document, "Preview" works when I use the original name on the page (here 11x17) it is OK (screen picture 1). When I duplicate the page (here 11x17 (2) "Preview" is working (screen picture 2). But then as soon as I change the title of the page I duplicated - as I always did, the "Preview" doesn't work even if the set up is the same (screen picture 3). But it works when I change the printer for a "real" one.
Does it help you ?
I think that is because of this letter:
In the Layout name.
I tried to name the layout with the name with å letter and was able to reproduce your problem.
Looks like a bug in AutoCAD's PDF pc3 printers...
You are right. It is a question of accent. Still don't understand why it was working before but at least I have a solution. Thank you very much !
Dear Maxim is it possible to change the location of temporary folder /private/var/folders/XX/XXXXXXX/T ?
My obvious routine is to "print" the PDF file via preview button in Autocad Mac LT, it is automatically opened by Preview native app. Then I have to change the name and "saving path" and then save.
I will be glad if I can just save it /best to the folder where is the "main" dwg located/ Is there some kind of easy and quick workaround.
PS. I found the folder full of old PDFs...funny
Hello Toman,
>>>is it possible to change the location of temporary folder /private/var/folders/XX/XXXXXXX/T ?
I'm afraid this is not possible, because this folder is defined on macOS system level.
