Hi! I recently changed Internet Service Providers and purchased my own cable modem/router rather than rent from the ISP. After registering my cable modem/router with the ISP, I was not able to access AutoCAD or login to my AutoDESK account online. I was able to access both from my home computer, which uses a different ISP, so I new my account was active. The error messages I received indicated that it was a proxy server and/or firewall issue.
A have a single license and don't have an IT department.
As a first step I turned off my computer firewall and the router firewall (a bit scary), but that didn't correct the problem. I then switched from a WIFI connection to Ethernet, and that didn't work. I then spent a day and a half looking into remedies, including learning about proxy servers, where I saw that Port 80 and Port 443 were the ports the proxy servers needed to use. I also noted that McAfee could cause issues for logging in, and knew that my ISP offered McAfee for free. When I went to my ISP website to verify that McAfee had not been downloaded, I found that my ISP had turned off Port 80 and Port 25. I turned on Port 80 and was then able to connect.
My question: Does Port 80 have to be "on" to connect to AutoDESK and to access my account? Was this the solution? If so, would it make sense for AutoDESK to note that single user license holders should verify with their ISP that Port 80 is on?
If having Port 80 turned on was not the solution, does anyone have any suggestions? I can't afford to not have access to AutoCAD from work!!!
Thank you in advance for any feedback.
